Data conversion and exchange

The sewn products industry is now global. Along with streamlined trade regulations, there is an urgent need to streamline the transfer of electronic data between different pattern making, grading, marker making, plotting and cutting systems and equipment. The industry can no longer afford the delays introduced into product development lead times inherent in international courier shipments of hard copy patterns and markers. It must move at e-speed to remain competitive.

The industry has started to react to this urgent need by supporting electronic data exchange standards, initially through the auspices of ANSI/AAMA and, most recently, via ASTM (www.astm.org).
